Jeff and Heidi’s wedding was nothing short of magical. If you know Heidi, you know that she is over-the-top. When it came to her big day there were no exceptions. The festivities began with a quaint sit down rehearsal dinner at The Historic Rucker House on Friday, October 16th. The wedding was held in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, October 17, 2009. With a little over 450 guest in attendance, Jeff and Heidi exchanged their vows at Mountain Brook Community Church. That evening they celebrated their nuptials by hosting a masquerade ball at The Historic Alabama Theatre.
I’m getting married! Jeff (my boyfriend of 3 years/my fiance…what a weird word) proposed 4 weeks ago at my shop. It was so precious. I had no idea.
How it happened…
It was Saturday, December 20th and I had appointments that morning. My sweet Mom and my dear friend Jeana Lee (owner of Bella Bridesmaid-Birmingham, AL) asked if they could take me to lunch. After lunch, we (Mom, Jenna Lee, and I) went to buy some wedding shoes that I had found. (I had told my Mom about them without having a clue that I would actually need them. They were just really cute.) After shopping, Jeana Lee dropped me off at my shop for a 2 o’clock appointment. When I arrived, I noticed that there were candles leading into the main room, with pink long stem roses lining the path. As soon as I saw the candles, I immediately dropped my bags, looked to Jeana Lee and said, “there is someone in my shop” she just smiled, gave me a wave and drove off. When I went to open the door, I noticed that it was unlocked. Immediately, my heart dropped to the floor. I slowly opened the door and walked through the candle lit path to my main room. As I peeked around the corner, I saw Jeff on one knee, a wedding ring in his left hand, and a boutique of flowers in his right. I couldn’t believe it. I was so astonished that I turned around and walked into the other room. (Who does that?) I immediately started bawling crying. I asked Jeff, “is this seriously happening” he replied “yes babe.” I then asked, “are you seriously serious?… can you meet me half way?” Jeff replied, “Heidi, I kind of need you to come in here” and so I did.
I am unsure as to what he asked but all I could say was “You did such a good job!” After gaining some type of composure, Jeff asked, “well?” and I replied, “oh yes, of course!”
